Medbox, Inc., through its subsiduary, Prescription Venidng Machines, Inc., sells the Medicine Dispensing System (MDS), which is a patented dispensing system and software program (US 7,844,363 B1) that utilizes pre-paid cards that are debited once a registered user visits the machine. Each card is encrypted with the user’s unique fingerprint and biographical information. The process allows for pharmacies, hospitals, doctors’ offices, and alternative medicine clinics to manage employee possession of sensitive drugs. In a retail environment typical in most alternative medicine clinics, the system also allows these clinics to demonstrate that the user visiting the machine is a registered patient and that the patient has a valid and unexpired authorization from a physician to possess and use the medicine dispensed. Each transaction is tracked internally for accounting and compliance purposes. Patient information is all kept securely onsite, is not online as the software is completely self-supportive and does not require an internet connection. Medbox, through its subsidiaries, offers turn-key consulting services to the alternative medicine industry as well to the mini self-storage market.
